Pagan Pride Day of 2008 was a great success.
If you did not attend this year PPD you missed a great deal of fun and excitement.
Admission was only one item for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC. So admission was not an issue.
The 8th annual Central NC Pagan Pride Day Festival in Raleigh was held on Sept. 20th. The Gates opened at 11:00 am; and the fun began. This was the biggest festival, yet! From the moment you walked in till the moment you left there was something to see, do and enjoy. From the many different bands providing entertainment, to the many different venders selling their wares. Some of the venders even gave away some of there wares free of charge.
This year as in past years the PPD staff continue to amaze us; not just with their hard work putting together this event but also with their “can do” attitude during the festival. I will not use individual names to put one individual over the other, since all the staff did a superb and outstanding job.
So how did we do? Here are the numbers as provided by Michelle PPD Staff.
We had over 1100 attendees! Making this our biggest event to date!
We raised 1,245 POUNDS OF FOOD! That's enough food for 1,048 MEALS!
We did collect $115 in donations for the food bank as well as all that food.
We collected 30 units of blood! This might not sound like a lot, but this was ALMOST DOUBLE the amount the Rex Blood Bus expected us to collect.
We sold EVERY SINGLE Pagan Pride Bracelet - Raising a total of $300 for the International Pagan Pride Day.
We raised $530 through our Raffle and Auction
The above was accomplished thanks to all of those individuals’ pagan and non-pagan alike that in one form or another helped with this event.
European Medieval Arts of Arms as in years past provided superb demonstration of their art. This year we even had a Flaming Pagans Costume Contest that was won by Charlotte PPD's own Miles Batty.
