Autumn is finally here. New Beginnings for many of us even though fall is usually dying down with Mother Nature. I can’t even tell you how many people I know that love this season above the rest. We have added so much to the store and as I write this we are decorating for the season. We say goodbye to Sheena; she is off to bigger and better adventures. Jess and Vickie is still with us and I am coming into the shop 2 to 3 times a week.
We have asked our volunteers to step in for now and help us out during the upcoming events. We are so grateful for all the help, support and patronized you all are giving us.

Over 58 different types of oils have been made and should be on the shelf by the end of the week. New candles, including soy and tin spiritual candles; have you seen the Mystic Candle display? New herbs and teas are stocked and ready for you.
New soap display made by Highland Lather LLC, they are so good and are flying off the shelf.
For the season we have Hazey Starr Design dolls. You have to come in and see them. Gem Bracelets; a new addition with handmade stone and bead bracelets. We now have 19 local artists selling their wares in our store and hopefully you will get to meet them during one of our holiday artist bazaars on the second Saturday of October, November and December.

Wild Curiosities will be selling her wares every Thursday in October. Oddities, bone jewelry, specimens, and curiosities. If you love creepy things or just have a close relationship with the dead; there are plenty of things here for you! From bone jewelry, to ornate frames filled with specimens, you never know what you will find here!

Tarot Reader
Looking for a Tarot reader? Never had a reading before but are curious to “dip your toe in?” Have questions or feeling stuck and just wanting some confirmation or guidance on a situation? Come talk to our reader, Senah! With over 10 years’ experience in reading tarot, she will give you an honest assessment of your situation as shown to her by the cards and your guides. This is a bit of how she works in her own words.

Fridays:
Clearing and balancing your Chakras: Chakra Healing/Balancing every Friday afternoons with Darlene. By appointment or walk-in. Tuning forks, crystals and/or Reiki energy are used to help clear and balance the energy of the 7 main chakras. A thirty minute session is $30.00.
Also available is a chakra oracle reading session that can focus on a specific chakra. Approximately 10 minutes for $5.00 per oracle card. Learn what it means to manifest, and the difference between a New Moon and a Full Moon. All materials supplied, leave with your own manifestation box, $20.00 or pre-pay $15.00.
Saturday October 12 Local Artist Bazaar: Shop local and Small Business.
We are having events 3 times this fall. Second Saturday in October 12, November 9, and December 14. Events start at 11AM and closes around 4 PM

Saturday October 5th: Noon. Crystals and stones class. Learn all about the differences and the qualities, how to use, clean and wear. $20.00

Saturday October 19th 7PM – Midnight: Truely Unique’s Annual Halloween Bash!!!!!!
Games, music, food, readers, contest, so many different treats this year!!!!!!

Friday October 25th: 6PM. Open Discussion for Bone Class Members: Come join Danielle on an open discussion about Osteomancy, if you are a previous student and have questions, come and ask them! Are you a new student and are wondering what the old art of Osteomancy is all about; this is the event for you! Free event, tips appreciated.

Thursday, October 31st: 6 PM. A Special Samhain Osteomancy Class (Bone Throwing) for beginners with Wild Curiosities 6PM. Come and learn all about bone throwing and what it all entails, down to even walking off with your very own kit. $50 for the class, pre-register, and its $40!

We will have a booth on Saturday, October 26, 10 AM to 4 PM Elm City Fest and car Show. Music, games, crafts, inflatables, food and car show. Swing by and say hi at Osvaldo and Kay’s home. We will be decorated for Halloween and handing out candy.

Other and Upcoming Events

Local Artist Bazaar: Shop local and Small Business. We are having events 3 times this fall. Second Saturday in October 12, November 9, and December 14. Events start at 11AM and closes around 4 PM
This will give everyone to show and sell their wares and for the rest of us to buy locally and with venders we know. Music, tea, mulled cider, soups and other goodies.

Toad Song Farm
2024 has been a great year at Toad Song Farm so far, and we’re looking forward to lots more good things to happen this year. This time of year we are getting the greenhouse ready for winter and starting our propagation for next spring. Volunteer interns are always welcome to help with whatever projects we have in our queue. Weekends, Mondays, and Wednesdays are the days to come out if you want to lend a hand and learn a little more about herbs and plants.
Wise Women Retreat 2024 was a huge success! Our groups made fancy brooms and learned the witch’s dance. Lots of great food was shared, and we all had a chance to recharge our systems. Next year’s Wise Women Retreat is scheduled for September 19-21, 2025, and will be all about medicine making.
We’re hosting 2 more big events for this year:
First up is our Annual Dumb Supper and Samhain celebration that will be held on Saturday, October 26. Bring a pumpkin to carve, a dessert or snack food to share, and come dressed in your best ritual attire as we dine with our ancestors and share a special Samhain ritual.
The second big event is our annual Stone Soup Party and Yule feast on Saturday, December 21. Everyone is asked to bring something for the pot or for the table and a clean take away container. I’ll get 2 pots of soup started – 1 vegetarian, and 1 for omnivores. The stones and the items the community brings always makes the best pot of soup. We’ll spend the evening making merry with friends and neighbors. After the fellowship and feast, be sure to take some soup with you to share with those who can’t join us.
Look for us as we visit Truely Unique on the 2nd Saturday of October, November, and December. We plan to bring our non-plant products and Mary’s massage chair so you can see what all we have going on here at Toad Song Farm.

Zucchini Parmesan Crisps

1 lb. zucchini or squash (about 2 medium-sized)
1/4 cup shredded parmesan 1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon olive oil 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Freshly ground pepper, to taste
• Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line two baking sheets with foil and spray lightly with olive oil.
• Slice zucchini or squash into 1/4 inch-thick rounds. Toss rounds with oil, coating well.
• In a wide bowl or plate, combine breadcrumbs, parmesan, salt and pepper.
• Place rounds in parmesan-breadcrumb mixture, coating both sides of each round, pressing to adhere. The mixture will not completely cover each round, but provides a light coating on each side.
• Place rounds in a single layer on baking sheets. Sprinkle any remaining breadcrumb mixture over the rounds.
• Bake for about 22 to 27 minutes, until golden brown. (There is no need to flip them during baking — they crisp up on both sides as is.)

Samhain Cider:
2 quarts apple cider 1/2-cup sugar
1/2-teaspoon nutmeg 1/2-teaspoon cinnamon
1/4-teaspoon ginger 1/2 Cup apricot brandy
…In large pot combine the apple cider, the sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Simmer slowly on low heat for about 15 min. Add the brandy and serve cider while warm. Refrigerate the left over. Serves 8.

Stone: Opal: Opals are in a class by themselves. As a species, opal is so unique its patterns have their own descriptive vocabulary. More than any other gem, each opal is distinctly individual. Opals are also the most delicate gemstones commonly worn and require special care.

Typical colors: Some opals can display the phenomenon known as play-of-color; dazzling flashes of color that move as the stone is turned. Opals are the only gems that can show this effect, but not all opals do.
Healing: Perhaps due to their dynamic appearance, opals are associated with light and magic. As such, some credited opals with healing properties, especially for the eyes. So, pleasing to the sight, it inspires love and hope, innocence, purity, luck, happiness, protection, prosperity, creativity, inspiration, relationship and harmony

Cleanse: Opal is a relatively delicate gemstone that requires special cleaning care to avoid damage or discoloration. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach, ammonia, and sulfuric acid as they can potentially damage or discolor the stone. It is best only to use gentle soaps and warm water to clean opal for a safe and successful result. Avoid hot water, if you choose to clean your opal yourself, use lukewarm water, a mild soap, and a soft cloth or brush; rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a soft cloth afterwards. Keep in mind that these pieces are delicate and should be handled with care when cleaning. Opal is a relatively delicate gemstone
that requires special cleaning care to avoid damage or discoloration. Here are some tips on how to properly clean opal stones.

Charging: Placing an opal stone in the full moon’s light is another way to cleanse it.
